What makes a website bring in business?
A site brings in business when the right people find it, trust it within a few seconds, and can take the next step from their phone, whether that is booking, buying or getting in touch. Design matters, but only in service of those three things.
Most small business sites miss on at least one. They are written around what the owner calls the service instead of what customers type into Google, they load slowly on a phone, or the next step is buried. Lab 5280 builds around that next step: one clear action on every page, the service and the town in every heading, and nothing between a visitor and becoming a customer.
What's included in a Lab 5280 website?
Every build includes the parts a local business site needs to rank and convert, not just the design.
- Custom design. No themes or templates. The site is designed for your business and your customers.
- Mobile-first build with tap-to-call and click-to-map on every page.
- Copy written around search. Pages are written for the words your customers actually use, by service and by town.
- Speed. Built to load fast on a phone, and tested against Google page speed guidance before launch.
- Structured data so Google and AI answer tools can read your business details, services and FAQs.
- Google Business Profile setup on growth builds, connected to the site.
- Hosting set up in your name, with SSL and analytics.
How does a website project work?
Three stages, about four to six weeks in total, depending on how many pages you need and how quickly content comes together.
- Base camp, week 1. A free audit of your site, your Google listing and your top three competitors. You get a clear plan and a fixed price.
- Build, weeks 2 to 5. You see real pages early and give feedback as the site takes shape. Hosting, security and tracking are set up along the way.
- Launch and after. The site goes live. If you add care or local SEO, it gets worked on every month and you get a short report on leads and rankings.
Why work with a web designer who came from IT?
Because the parts of a website that break are rarely the design. Domains expire, DNS gets misconfigured, plugins go unpatched, backups turn out never to have run. Lab 5280 is run by someone with more than ten years keeping business networks, servers and sites online, so the technical side is built properly from the start and stays that way.
You also work directly with the person doing the work: the same person designs, builds and answers your email after launch.
Can you redesign my current website?
Often, yes. The free audit looks at your current site and tells you plainly whether it is worth improving or cheaper to rebuild. If you are happy with how it looks but it does not rank or convert, a rewrite of key pages plus a speed and structure pass may be enough.
